How many drug courts are currently operating in Virginia?

There are 30 drug courts currently operating in Virginia.

When and where does the Virginia Drug Court Association meet?

The Virginia Drug Court Association meets every other month at 10:00 a.m.  Please see the "Meetings & Events" section for specific meetings dates.  If you would like to attend a meeting, please e-mail Cynthia Kirschner at least five days prior to the meeting at cynthia.kirschner@djj.virginia.gov to obtain a lunch order form.   Lunch is provided to all members as part of the dues.  

How do I become a member of the Virginia Drug Court Association?

Annual membership runs from the July 1st through June 30th of each year.  The annual membership fee is $50 for an individual membership or $250 for a six member court or planning team membership.

Do I have to be an operational court to join the Virginia Drug Court Association?

Absolutely not!  Many individuals join the association during the planning phase to take advantage of the networking and educational opportunities provided by the association.

Where can I obtain additional information about drug courts in Virginia?

Many of the operating courts in Virginia would be glad to help you by providing support, technical assistance, advice and/or forms.  You may use our list of contacts to e-mail the drug court administrators in the state for specific assistance or contact us and we'll direct your question to the appropriate staff in the state.

I am a student interested in conducting research about drug courts in Virginia or interning with a drug court.  Who can I contact for information?

Our best advice is to contact the drug court that is closest to your school for more information.  Many programs would be happy to work with you.
