How do I become a member of the Virginia Drug Court Association?

[Annual membership runs from the July 1 through June 30th of each year.  The annual membership fee is $50 for an individual membership or $250 for a six member court or planning team membership.]

When and where does the association meet?

[The Virginia Drug Court Association meets every other month from 10:00am to 2:00pm at the Richmond Police Academy.  If you would like to attend a meeting, please e-mail Melanie Meadows at least five days prior to the meeting at meadowsm@chesterfield.gov to obtain a lunch order form.   Lunch is provided to all members as part of the dues.  If you are not a member but would like to attend, please contact us at meadowsm@chesterfield.gov and we would be happy to have you as our guest.]

Do I have to be an operational court to join the Virginia Drug Court Association?

[Absolutely not!  Many individuals join the association during the planning phase to take advantage of the networking and educational opportunities provided by the association.]

Our locality is thinking about creating a specialty court.  Where can I obtain additional information about drug courts in Virginia?

[Many of the operating courts in Virginia would be glad to help you by providing support, technical assistance, advice and/or forms.  You may use our list of contacts to e-mail the drug court administrators in the state for specific assistance or contact us and we'll direct your question to the appropriate staff in  the state.]

I am a student interested in writing a paper about drug courts or interning in a drug court.  Who can I contact for more information?

[Our best advice is to contact the drug court that is closest to your school for more information.  Many programs would be happy to work with you.]
